Estimate the costs of the moving service correctly
Apples are delicious and healthy, but so are pears. Nevertheless, apples and pears cannot be compared with each other, although both are classified as “pome fruit”. Moving services are no different. It is not enough to simply look at the prices and make an immediate decision for or against a moving company. The type and quantity of services you receive for your hard-earned money are also important. Umzugsservice Zürich GmbH stands for clear structures and is transparent. This saves you hidden costs. The service portfolio is extensive and ranges from advice to moving cleaning. In between is a long list of possible services (see for yourself). There are a total of three options for billing costs.
Option 1: All-inclusive offers
An all-inclusive quote is nothing more than a fixed price agreed when the contract is concluded, which both parties must adhere to. The advantage for you as the customer: even if the move turns out to be more difficult or even longer than planned, you are protected against cost increases. In this case, we as a moving company would be at a disadvantage. One man’s joy is another man’s sorrow – and vice versa. If such a move with a professional company goes unexpectedly smoothly, you may feel ripped off. There is no provision for subsequent cost reductions. Nevertheless, as a moving company, we bear the full risk; after all, we cannot fully foresee the difficulties of an individual move. Nevertheless, the cost certainty is on your side. A full-service move is often the basis for an all-inclusive quote. However, it can be agreed for any type of moving service.
Can the flat-rate offer be overridden?
An all-inclusive quotation always entails the obligation for the customer to make certain preparations, which must be specified and recorded in writing before the contract is concluded. If you adhere to the relevant agreements, there will be no additional work for us as the moving company, which we would otherwise have to charge for. Otherwise, we would take on some of your tasks, so to speak, to ensure the progress of the move. This additional work would then, of course, have to be invoiced. The mutual fulfillment of the contract – based on the order – protects both parties from unpleasant surprises with the flat-rate offer. You only pay the agreed fixed price and receive the agreed services in return, regardless of how much time is required.
Option 2: Hourly billing with cost ceiling
When calculating a removal bill based on working hours or hourly wages, you should always set a cost ceiling. This limit also protects you from unexpected expenses. An example: After we at Umzugsservice Zürich GmbH have obtained an overview of the expected time required – for example 7.5 hours – we guarantee you the agreed services within a time frame of (also for example) max. 9 hours. The time difference of 1.5 hours is there to compensate for possible hurdles. This is set out in the contract. As a moving company, we undertake not to exceed this cost ceiling.
Can the cost ceiling also be overridden?
Yes and no! Provided that both parties adhere to the agreements, the cost ceiling remains valid. However, if additional services have to be provided during the course of the move due to a lack of contractually agreed preparatory work on your part, this cost ceiling will no longer apply and the costs will have to be adjusted accordingly.
Option 3: Hourly billing without cost ceiling
Anything but reputable: hourly billing without a cost ceiling. Due to the lack of a limit, you are at the mercy of the employees of a moving company and their current motivation. This can be quite expensive. Avoid such a risk and set limits (“flat-rate offer” or “hourly billing with cost ceiling”). You will rightly miss such a dubious offer from Umzugsservice Zürich GmbH.
Security for both sides
Cost limits give both contracting parties security when booking moving services. Provided that agreements are adhered to equally by the customer and the moving company, the cost agreements remain valid. Everyone knows what has to be done and accepts the costs. There is no provision for downward price regulation, as the full risk ultimately lies with the moving company.

Yes, we offer free, no-obligation home viewings to accurately assess the scope of your relocation and provide a precise quote based on this. These viewings usually last between 15 and 20 minutes and can be arranged from Monday to Friday between 08:00 and 18:00. For those who prefer a flexible alternative, we also offer the option of sending us videos or pictures via WhatsApp or email, based on which we can also provide a quote. We offer packing materials for all types of items, including moving and clothing boxes, packaging for fragile items and protective materials such as cushioning material, bubble wrap and stretch film. These materials are available for purchase or hire, depending on your needs.

Brand new materials and suitable for reuse at your own discretion. We offer a full service including delivery and collection of packaging materials. All furniture is thoroughly wrapped in stretch film and, if necessary, additionally covered with woolen blankets. These measures serve not only to protect your items from damage during transportation and in the van, but also from dirt. We also use additional padding material for particularly sensitive or valuable items. To further increase safety and prevent items from slipping during the journey, we also secure the items in the van with lashing straps to prevent them from rubbing against each other.
Ideally, plan your relocation 4-6 weeks in advance to ensure the availability and organization of the necessary resources. Depending on our capacities, we also offer short-term removals at no extra charge to meet urgent needs.
The price for your relocation is based on the scope of the relocation, the distance between the locations, the parking distance to the building entrance, the floor, the availability of elevators and the required working time. Additional services such as a furniture lift or packing materials can also affect the total price.
The quotation process begins with your request via our web form, where building information and contact details are required. Upon receipt, we will contact you for a personal or digital inspection. Based on this, we will prepare a quote. Changes or additional requests are possible, but early notification is important for smooth planning.
The disassembly and assembly of your furniture is included in our moving service at no extra cost. These services are already included in the hourly price of our moving service. Billing is transparent and based on the actual time spent. Our qualified assembly staff, who are part of every moving team, guarantee that all assembly work is carried out professionally and carefully in accordance with your requirements.
Cancellations or postponements may be subject to a charge depending on the time of the change and the preparations already made. As a rule, however, we accept order cancellations in a customer-oriented manner and at no cost.
In the event of damage during the relocation, your goods are insured with cover of up to CHF 100,000 per moving van and public liability insurance of CHF 5 million. This offers protection against damage to your goods or persons. Damage should be reported immediately after delivery and submitted to us in writing within three days. As a rule, our removal staff will record the damage themselves and take down all the important information for the claims settlement. Depending on the situation, we will then organize either the repair of the damaged item or compensation at the current value.

We accept payments by credit card, debit card, TWINT and cash. The conditions are defined in the contract, whereby advance payment and payment by invoice are possible on request. Payment is usually made directly after completion of the order and is processed by the team leader against receipt.
