How to Properly Prepare for Your Relocation in Zug
The city of Zug is located on Lake Zug, about 30 minutes by S-Bahn from Zurich Central Station, and is the capital of the canton of the same name. Demand for housing is high, and tenant turnover is correspondingly high. What is specifically relevant for your relocation date: Zug has both a historic downtown area that requires permits and a canton-wide commercial parking permit system. Both directly affect every relocation.
Parking and No-Stopping Zones in the City of Zug
The city of Zug is divided into 10 parking zones. Resident parking permits cost CHF 30 per month and allow daily parking from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. within the designated zone.
The following options are available for moving day:
Visitor’s daily parking permit: CHF 5 per day, available at the Residents’ Registration Office or online. This is usually sufficient for small relocations in residential areas.
Zug Canton Commercial Parking Permit (Tradespeople/Spitex): CHF 6 per day, valid in all municipalities of the Canton of Zug. Allows parking on the sidewalk or in no-parking zones, provided that the right of way and pedestrian walkway remain clear. This is particularly convenient for horse-drawn vehicles.
To request an official no-parking zone, please contact the City of Zug’s Department of Safety and Traffic: 058 728 99 00 / [email protected]. Requests should be sent to the City Hall, Gubelstrasse 22, 6301 Zug.
Moving service Zürich GmbH handles parking arrangements and communication with local authorities for your move in Zug. At no extra charge.
Old Town Zug: Access Regulations for Relocations
Zug’s Old Town is a traffic-calmed zone with its own access regulations. Access permits can be ordered online. The following applies to furniture deliveries to or from the Old Town: Loading and unloading must be completed quickly, and parking in the no-traffic zone is not permitted.
Anyone moving to Zug’s Old Town should plan their route and schedule well in advance. We’ll go over this during the tour.
Neighborhoods in Zug: An Overview of Accessibility
During the viewing, we will assess the accessibility of your address, whether it’s in the historic district or an outlying neighborhood.
Transportation: Directions for furniture delivery
Zug is the terminus of S-Bahn line S5 (Zug – Affoltern a.A. – Zurich HB – Uster – Pfäffikon SZ), with trains running every 30 minutes. The travel time to Zurich HB is approximately 30 minutes. In addition, Interregio and IC trains depart from Zug toward Zurich HB with shorter travel times. You can plan your route directly using your car via the A4 (Zug exit).
Rental Property Vacancies in Zug: What Property Management Companies Can Expect
A move-out cleaning is a deep cleaning of the apartment that the landlord will accept as complete upon handover: kitchen, oven, fixtures, floors, and windows, all in accordance with tenancy law standards. We perform the cleaning immediately after the move-out date, with a guarantee of acceptance. If the property is not accepted on the first attempt, we will clean it again at no charge.
Upon request, we can dispose of household items and unwanted furniture on the same day.
Registration and deregistration in Zug
